Course context

With our postgraduate degree in Film Sound/Sound Design, you have the perfect qualification for working in all areas of sound production for national or international companies and networks. In the diverse projects you realise during your studies, you will identify and develop your unique style, and gain experience that will optimally prepare you for professional life. We provide a working environment that is just as you’ll find in the industry, as well as opportunities to try your hand at every conceivable genre, including animation, documentary, advertising and feature films, as well as series formats. In addition, new areas of work such as audio for games, sound for 360° films and virtual reality are now an integral part of our curriculum.

Overview of the curriculum

In the postgraduate course Film Sound/Sound Design, you learn about the production and creation process of the various sound levels of a film. At the same time, you will become familiar with specialist aspects such as the non-linear production of sound in computer games. We place great emphasis on maximum practical orientation: you can immediately implement what you learn in your own projects, and realise all the steps in the respective production. During your studies, you will become a member of a sound team that deals with larger and therefore more complex projects, where you’ll be assuming responsibility for a variety of tasks. You can specialise in the areas you particularly enjoy. The subject focus area also offers specialisations in media design and sound in games.

Specific features

In their work on film sets and in sound post-production, students use the exact same production equipment as they’ll be using in their careers after they graduate. We have studios for music mixing, music recording, Midi studios and post-production suites, as well as the first ever Dolby Atmos film mixing at a European film school. This is the perfect preparation for your entry into the professional world of work, allowing you to have confidence in your expert knowledge. In all modules for the duration of your course, you will be guided by top-class lecturers from the film industry.
